Turin is preparing for the Half and Ten, the eagerly awaited running event that draws thousands of runners to the heart of the city every year. Less than a month to go before the start of the two most popular races on the Piedmont sports scene, scheduled for Sunday, April 13. The event, sponsored by the City of Turin and the Piedmont Region, confirms itself as one of the most important events in the road racing calendar, combining sport, passion and enhancement of the area.
TENTH EDITION: A CHALLENGE FOR ALL RUNNERS
The 2025 edition will be a special one because it marks the 10th anniversary of this competition, which has been able to grow in numbers and prestige year after year.
The event is also included in the World Athletics calendar as GAA Approved International, a recognition that certifies its global importance. A significant statistic is the origin of the athletes: 20 percent of the participants come from outside the region, contributing significantly to the growth of the area's tourist-hotel sector.
On April 13, 2025, test yourself on the distance of your choice and live a unique experience in the heart of Turin!
The Turin Half Marathon awaits you with its 21.097 km through the most iconic streets of the city. Start and finish are set in the beautiful Piazza Castello, a symbolic place of the capital of Piedmont, for an unforgettable day of sport and passion for running.
In addition to the half-marathon, the program also includes the Turin Ten, a race designed for those who want to tackle a shorter but equally exciting distance.
TWO ROUTES IN THE HEART OF THE CITY
Both races run on city routes that are entirely closed to traffic, allowing participants to enjoy a race in total safety and immersed in the beauty of Turin.
- The Turin Half. (21.097 km) runs through some of the city's most picturesque spots, offering runners a real journey through the history and culture of the Piedmontese capital.
- The Ten of Turin (10 km) is a fast track, perfect for those who want to improve their Personal Best or enjoy a dynamic running experience in one of Italy's most fascinating cities. Available in Competitive and Non-Competitive modes, allowing everyone, from competitive runners to simple enthusiasts, to choose the formula that best suits their needs.
Both races will start at 8:30 a.m. from Via Po, near Castle Square.
"It is not just a run but a journey through the history, art and beauty of the city. It is the
spring classic that opens Base Running's event season," said Alessandro Giannone, president of Base Running A.S.D., the sports association organizing the event.
STUDENT PROTAGONISTS: AN EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE BETWEEN SPORTS AND ORGANIZATION
As per tradition, once again this year Base Running A.S.D. is actively involving male and female students from various educational institutions in the area, offering them the opportunity to participate in the event in a concrete and educational way. Among the participating institutes are the Liceo Classico e Musicale Cavour in Turin, the Liceo Juvarra in Venaria Reale and theITS Turismo Torino in Via Carlo Alberto, which are taking part in the initiative as part of the Percorsi per le Competenze Trasversali e per l'Orientamento (PCTO) (Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation).
Students from all schools involved are employed as assistants to race services and runners, supporting the organization in the following operational activities:
- Delivery of bibs to participating athletes
- Management of bag storage
- Distribution of final refreshments to athletes at the end of the race
- Presiding over the intermediate refreshments along the route
- Medal presentation to all finishers
This experience represents an important opportunity for hands-on learning, allowing students to acquire skills in the field of sports event management. Their involvement is framed in the Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation, in accordance with the provisions of Article 1, Paragraph 785 of Law 145/2018.
