On October 11, 2026, get ready for an unforgettable experience: Base Running, in collaboration with the City of Venaria, the Reggia di Venaria, the La Mandria Regional Park, the Municipality of Druento, and the Municipality of San Gillio, presents the first edition of the Royal Marathon.
A 42.195 km challenge that will take you running through miles of asphalt and trails, history and wonder. A certified route that winds through some of the jewels of the Savoy heritage and natural wonders of Piedmont.
Start at the magnificent Gardens of the Reggia di Venaria, a masterpiece of European Baroque, where kings and courtiers once strolled. The rustle of leaves and the symmetry of tree-lined avenues will envelop you as you run.
It then passes through the striking La Mandria Nature Park, an oasis of biodiversity where lush nature is intertwined with the history of Savoy royalty. Here, hunting lodges and wooded paths tell centuries of court life and adventure.
The route also touches the City of Venaria, Druento and San Gillio, small villages with authentic charm. Here, history and modernity coexist, offering you a panorama that changes with every step.

The race will start inside the Gardens of the Royal Palace.

The route of the Maratona Reale includes the start inside the gardens of the Palace of Venaria and the finish is scheduled in the majestic Grand Parterre of the Palace.
The start, inside the Gardens of the Reggia will be easily accessible only on foot, directly from the entrance on Via XX Settembre corner of Via Quirino Mascia.
All finishers will receive the medal made especially for this event
All rankings will be available, directly online, on the Endu portal
The competition is subject to the ranking criteria and related awards as per WA and FIDAL regulations by gender ,absolute and category finishing order. For the ranking the real time applies.
If foreseen, it will be carried out according to the procedures issued by the Federation or by other Authorities in charge by Law.
For what is not covered by this Device, please refer to the R.T.I., to the specific Regulations of the Event, to the General Rules published in the Vademecum 2026, and to the individual Regulations issued by FIDAL for No Stadia races.
According to the Rules for the Organization of Events issued by FIDAL, the following may participate:
ATHLETES REGISTERED IN ITALY
1 Athletes registered for 2026 with clubs affiliated with FIDAL, born in 2006 and earlier
2 Athletes in possession of Runcard (valid as sports insurance and permission to compete), limited to persons 20 years and older. Participation is, however, subject to presenting a valid medical certificate of specific competitive fitness for athletics, which must be shown to the organizers in the original and kept, as a copy, in the records of the event organizing company. The medical certificate for non-resident foreigners can be issued in their own country, but the same examinations required by Italian regulations must have been performed.
ATHLETES NOT REGISTERED IN ITALY
Italian/foreign athletes not registered in Italy, born in 2006 or earlier, who meet one of the following requirements:
1 Athletes with club memberships affiliated with Foreign Athletics Federations recognized by WA At the time of registration, they must present self-certification of possession of the membership recognized by WA. The self-certification should then, however, be signed in original at the time of bib collection (form to be downloaded, filled in and signed): ENGLISH MEMBERSHIP SELF-DECLARATION
2 Athletes in possession of Runcard (valid as sports insurance and permission to compete), limited to persons 20 years of age and older; however, participation is subject, in addition to possession of the "RunCard," to the presentation of a valid medical certificate of specific agonistic fitness for athletics, which must be shown to the organizers in the original and kept, in copy, in the records of the Event Organizing Company. The medical certificate for non-resident foreigners can be issued in their own country, but the same examinations required by Italian regulations must have been performed.
FOREIGN ATHLETES NOT RESIDENT IN ITALY
Foreign athletes residing abroad who intend to run the half-marathon non-competitively may participate limited to persons 20 years of age (thousandth of age: 2004) and older, not registered with a FIDAL-affiliated club nor with a foreign Athletics club affiliated with World Athletics, by signing the appropriate waiver at the time of race packet pick-up. Please note: By choosing this option, the athlete will have an identified bib number and will also be included in a finish ranking, separate from the ranking of the competitive event defined as open, will also see their time entered in alphabetical order and will not be eligible for in-kind or cash prizes.
WAIVER TO FILL OUT SPORT TOURIST
NON-COMPETITIVE SECTION KM 42 (TO BE ADDED)
On the occasion of the second edition of the "Maratona Reale," Base Running Srl is organizing a running and walking test at a free pace on the same 42 km route.
, anyone born in 2006 or earlier who is in a suitable physical and mental condition to complete the test independently and safely may participate. Participants must have a medical certificate for competitive athletics. A copy of the document must be submitted to the organization upon registration.
A Competitive Athletics Medical Certificate is required to participate in the Maratona Reale.
Refueling and sponging services will be available along the Maratona Reale route

Certainly. All that is required is for the bib holder to fill out and give the appropriate proxy form to the trusted person.
You will be able to leave your belongings directly inside the Palace of Venaria.
No there is no shower service provided.
The maximum time to complete the Royal Marathon is 5 hours and 30 minutes.
Verbal complaints will be allowed to the Racing Referee within 30 minutes of the results being made official and secondarily in writing to the Jury of Appeals, accompanied by the appropriate race fee.
